At Green Whale Foundation we educate young people on the dangers of plastic pollution, and encourage them to change both their own behaviour, and create change within their communities. We do this by creating fun, engaging and interactive experiences, which allow them to experience the problem of plastic pollution first hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We run a Paddle and Pick programme for school years 5-6 (upper key stage 2 for English schools). These sessions get children to litter pick while navigating the canals on paddleboards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Locations <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brentford Lock<\/strong> – A secluded and tranquil location on the Grand Union Canal and River Brent.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ladbroke Grove Canalside<\/strong> – A private basin opening out onto the Grand Union Canal and just a 35 minute paddle to Little Venice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does it work? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For your full day experience, your class of 30 will arrive to start at 10am and divide into 2 groups.\u00a0 Half the class will go on an hour-long Paddle and Pick where they clear litter from the canal.\u00a0 The other half of the class will walk along the canal, seeing the water from a different perspective and participate in an educational discussion about plastic pollution, the reality of recycling and bioplastics and learn about greenwashing.\u00a0After each of the sessions the two groups will swap.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much does it cost? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The cost is just \u00a35 per child thanks to generous funding from grants and corporate sponsors.  If you are unable to cover the cost for every child in your class, we may be able to offer a number of reduced price spaces.  Please contact us to discuss. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
